Colorful Tudor Home Remodel
A burst pipe sparked a vibrant remodel, blending modern upgrades with timeless Tudor details. The result is a lively gem tucked away in a historic neighborhood.
Our clients weren’t planning on remodeling their beloved Crown Heights Tudor home until a pipe burst in the attic, forcing them to gut nearly half of the 80-year-old house. Seizing the opportunity, they restored the classic Tudor charm while adding their own unique artistic touches to the interiors.
Green Couch Design carefully crafted a style that harmonized with the Tudor exterior while enhancing functionality and incorporating a playful, sophisticated look. Special attention was given to the light fixture selection, blending modern whimsical elements with the home’s historic character. Tiny details, like the Holden Hardware set from Top Knobs, were thoughtfully chosen for their simple yet charming scallop detail in honey bronze.
Maintaining the original galley kitchen layout was crucial to preserving the home’s footprint and staying within budget. We honored the home's heritage by matching the original triangular stained glass window pattern above the kitchen sink with the new hutch doors, maintaining some of the home’s signature features while adding fresh, modern touches.
The kitchen’s original built-in hutch was updated to blend seamlessly with the new purple cabinetry. Crafted from Red Oak and finished with Varathane's Early American gel stain, it provides a warm contrast to the rest of the space. To give the hutch its own moment, we used a slab of Marmo Viola Quartz from Pacific Shore Stones as the backsplash, enhancing the floating shelves and creating a striking focal point.
Old homes require a creative approach to maximize square footage, and this Oklahoma City primary bath remodel is no exception. Instead of one large bathroom, the homeowners chose personalized his-and-hers spaces, preserving the home’s original footprint. As music and Muppet lovers, their playful spirit shines through in thoughtful details like custom vanities, wall-mounted gold faucets, and floor-to-ceiling tile in the shower, accented by a graceful archway. This custom bathroom remodel is a reflection of their unique style, bringing their personality to life in every corner.
For her primary bath, the client’s love for purple inspired a design that beautifully blends classic and contemporary elements. To maximize space, the homeowners opted for two smaller his-and-hers bathrooms, preserving the original footprint of their Crown Heights home in Oklahoma City. The 4x4 DalTile in Wood Violet, arranged in an offset pattern, adds a vibrant, modern twist to a traditional tile layout. Marble hex floor tiles with subtle lavender-grey flecks ground the space and create visual cohesion, while a custom vanity with brass hardware completes the look, elevating the bath into a personalized retreat.
