Our OKC Architecture Studio

We design functional spaces that support and elevate the life you long to live.

From redesigning a 8,500 square foot Youth Facility to a 300 square foot yellow kitchen we create spaces for families, small businesses, and locally minded organizations in or around Oklahoma.

Where It All Started

Everything began taking shape early one Saturday morning over cups of British Breakfast Tea, while sprawling on a green couch.

We had a dream to raise a family and build a business without compromising our beliefs, our time, or our quality in any of those areas.

The couch became the launching pad of our little Company. The place our dreams came together and where they continue to grow from today.

Simplicity.

We see creativity in canning with Grandma and the patchwork pattern of open fields. Our job is to cut through all the trends and fluff and get to the heart of what you really need and want. It’s quality, not quantity. It’s about taking the best parts of our design and architectural careers and providing legacy-driven services for the people we’re fortunate enough to call clients.

SHE’S THE WHIMSICAL DESIGNER, HE’S THE OLD SOUL ARCHITECT.

Meet the Owners

Megan Lopp

For several years, Megan worked at a boutique branding studio in Oklahoma City before launching Green Couch Design with Cale in 2010. Her graphic design and marketing work has won multiple Addy's and has been featured in HOW Design Magazine. For over a decade, she has had the privilege of working with local Oklahoma City brands like Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc., Boathouse District and Riversport OKC, TAP Architecture, Studio Architecture, Timberlake Construction, The Historic Pollard Theatre (Guthrie, OK), The Oklahoma Sustainability Network, as well as local salons, studios, and creative entrepreneurs. By digging into our client's vision and goals, Megan enables Green Couch Design to provide design plans and visuals with purpose and long-term growth.

In her free time, she enjoys dark coffee, thrifting and antiquing, and watching cheesy game shows with her family. Thus far, Meg's proudest life moments include running a marathon and birthing all three of her babies at home.

Cale Lopp

Not to quote The Lego Movie, but really… a true "Master Builder" Cale has worked in the Architectural, Construction, and Development Industry for over 15 years. After managing projects, in the millions of dollars, on a daily basis he is not afraid of budgets or subcontractors :). As a licensed architect, he has worked on projects like: The Jones Library, Oklahoma State University's Wentz Lane Parking Garage, and Toby Keith's. As a construction manager, he has worked on projects for Mustang Public Schools, St. Gregory's, and the UCO softball facilities. A natural problem solver, he knows how to meet client needs head-on and produce design solutions that are practical, budget-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing.

In his free time, he enjoys being a Cub Scout Den Leader and participating in a year’s long campaign of Dungeons and Dragons (DND). Thus far, Cale's proudest life moments include designing and building his own home AND hosting an adult Lego themed party in celebration of receiving his architectural license (and yes… "everything WAS awesome" at the party).

 How it All Started

2008 | The Dream Began

From the moment we met we literally joked about running a design firm together.

Seriously, the very first night .

Cale was in architecture school and I, Meg, was going to school for graphic design. One year later that joke turned into heart-led conversations, with an engagement ring on one finger, on an old green couch in college.

2010 | We Started the Business

With no savings and bag of found concrete we launched Green Couch after Cale was laid off from the 2008 recession. We developed a line of concrete jewelry and custom kitchen prints on aprons, tea towels, and mixer covers. From markets and craft shows, to Etsy, and local shops like Shop Good and Stash our products were sold all over Oklahoma, Dallas, and Kansas.

After two years money was still really tight and we struggled to get our margins at a healthy price point. Burned out, we realized it was time for a pivot.

2012-2018 | Growing Our Family

Cale went back to a 9-5 just in time for our (surprise!) first baby boy to arrive in 2012.

Between 2012 and 2017 we had three beautiful baby boys, enjoyed life in a little 1910 farmhouse, paid off our school debt, and took on a few of our first big architectural projects; the Catalyst Youth Facility and a local Church Lobby & Coffee Shop

2020 | Re-Launch

Pandemic shutdowns provided extra time at home to push on Green Couch and see if it was something we still really wanted. With a fresh perspective and outlook on the business we created a video series called; Design Date Nights where we shared about our personal journey of design and living in 1,000 sq ft 1910 farmhouse. Those conversations solidified our perspective on home, design, and family and opened the doors for several bigger projects like The Oculist in Downtown, OKC and our Wheeler District Home Design.

2022 | Dream Home + Business

For two years we worked around the clock to support our dream home and business. After working a 9-5, Cale would put on his Green Couch hat and design in the evenings several nights a week. I, Meg, worked during the day, and took care of the kids at night (with the help of one amazing Gigi). It was a GRIND, but we made it through!

In 2022 not only did we move into our dream home, but we also moved into our dream business full-time!
