Custom Bed Design
A custom request this bed, unlike standard bedside tables, was designed to give the client additional storage. They also wanted to maintain the original height of their bed, which was sitting on the floor. The simplest response was to provide a wood box for the box spring to fit inside, allowing the mattress to float above the ground. A simple double wall system allows for the addition of slats if at a later time the client wanted to remove the box spring and just use a mattress. Built entirely of oak with a dark cherry walnut custom stain, the headboard is canted at 20 degrees to allow a gentle recline while reading at night. Hand crafted this headboard and platform took two weeks, but yielded a beautiful result.
